Do vitamin C megadoses work?
No. Above ~200 mg per dose, absorption plateaus and the rest is excreted. Splitting into multiple smaller doses is more efficient than a single megadose.
Why do zinc lozenges have to dissolve in my mouth?
The antiviral effect comes from zinc ions contacting the upper respiratory tract directly. Swallowed capsules don't reach the infection site in time to interfere with viral replication.
